What exactly is a Virtual Assistant?

A virtual assistant (sometimes abbreviated to VA) is someone who provides administrative services to clients while typically operating from a home office.

What are the benefits of having a VA?

Saves time - Hiring the right person for your business can take a lot of time and resources. Interviews, applications and sifting through resumes can be a daunting task. Using a VA helps you skip most of that process and get started on completing your projects!

Reduces costs- VA’s can be hired by the hour for certain tasks and usually have specific skills you can utilize, rather than paying for a full-time or part-time employee who might need further training in certain areas. Also, since VA’s are an independent contractor, you save on payroll expenses which helps to reduce costs on your end.

Helps you utilize your time better- Instead of spending your time doing the day to day tasks that inevitably steal all your productive time, you can work with a VA to take care of emails, scheduling social media posts, etc. and free yourself up to focus on what you really want to be doing in your business.

Flexibility! Communication is key between you and your VA. When you agree on a guideline for how you would like to track progress, set goals and communicate from the start, you can pretty much sit back and let your VA handle the rest. Most VA’s will have their own schedule that suits their peak productivity times. For example, I work best at night while a client might be an early riser. The benefit is I can work on projects while my client is asleep, and when they start their day they can dive right in to what they enjoy doing best.

How do I schedule a Consultation?

You can visit my contact page and fill out the form. Please briefly detail what kind of projects you are looking for help with and let me know which method of contact you prefer. After initial contact, we can arrange an in-person meetup if you would like.

What do you use to build websites?

I typically use WordPress and Squarespace, but I also know how to code a website from the bottom up. Wix is another resource I use, and I’ve found Shopify to be the easiest to work with when building a website with an online store.

What training do you have?

I’ve been actively involved in the tech industry for the past five years, working in computer repair (hardware and software), social media, online marketing, web design, visual design and even a little graphic design. Aside from the Front End Developer course I took online through Skillcrush, the majority of my knowledge has been the benefit of self-directed learning. Technology evolves so quickly that what you learn can be outdated in a month’s time.

Why choose to be a Virtual Assistant?

I’ve grown up in an area with small towns that are miles apart and the majority of my jobs have been customer service. Being a VA gives me the opportunity to pursue things I love like art and technology and I can use my skills to help people succeed, which is also a passion of mine. And, since I work remotely, I can also branch out and offer my services to a wider audience.

What are your fees?

You can check out my services page to see what I offer.

So how does this all work?

After initial contact with a potential client, I like to be able to have a face-to-face conversation, either in person or a video call, so I can really get to know you and your goals. As an assistant, it’s my job to understand who you are and what you have envisioned for your company’s presence. In other words, your “'brand”. With that information, I can develop a plan of action to turn your ideas and goals into a finished product that’s uniquely you. Understanding your preferred method of communication and how you like to track progress is also a priority. I want to build a working relationship with all my clients that is a pleasant experience for everyone involved.
